Is Psychiatry Working?

Join us for this thought-provoking webinar, part of the Mind Matters Series which will bring to the attention of attendees the most important and critical issues in psychiatry today. These matters were discussed in the successful Radio 4 six-episode series, Is Psychiatry Working? earlier in 2023. The BBC have commissioned a second series for 2024. This is an opportunity for attendees to meet and discuss these topical issues with Femi Oyebode and Horatio, the joint presenters of the BBC series.

The issues discussed will be of interest to professionals who work in mental health services and the general public. The outcomes will include a better understanding of psychiatric disorders, the clinical responses to them and the difficulties that adversely influence care. This is a unique opportunity to hear Femi Oyebode and Horatio Clare talk about their successful BBC Radio 4 series.

The aim of this meeting is to enable participants to fully understand the current controversies in the practice of psychiatry. The format will follow the structure of the BBC Radio 4 programme Is Psychiatry Working? This will include responses to mental health crisis, the use of mental health legislation, the role of diagnosis in practice, drug treatments, psychotherapy, and recovery from illness. Joint presenters of the radio series, Femi Oyebode and Horatio Clare will be joined by Dr Gordana Milavic.
