UMAX 2022: Undergraduate oral and maxillofacial surgery conference

The Royal Society of Medicine UMAX 2022 conference showcases Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as a speciality and as a postgraduate career choice. The day brings together aspiring surgeons, trainees and senior consultants for interactive lectures, hands-on workshops, problem-based learning, virtual reality simulation and networking. Now in its twelfth year, UMAX is the leading OMFS undergraduate conference and we look forward to welcoming you to the RSM.

This in-person meeting aims to introduce delegates to key areas of oral and maxillofacial surgery such as maxillofacial trauma, head and neck reconstruction, and cleft lip and palate.

At the end of the meeting you will:

• Understand the training pathways in OMFS and how to successfully navigate them
• Appreciate the broad scope of the speciality and how it integrates with other medical, dental and surgical specialties
• Describe the presentation and initial management of some common OMFS conditions
• Develop basic surgical skills with small groups and consultant-led training

The morning will focus on interactive lectures on key areas such as maxillofacial trauma, head and neck reconstruction, and cleft lip and palate. The afternoon will provide a series of workshops covering topics such as suturing, virtual surgical planning, CV clinic and the principles of fixation and plating.

This conference will introduce students as well as junior doctors and dentists to some of the core topics in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
